Ford Focus Zetec - Registration date? #

Year of Manufacture *: 2013/14

Hi all. Just looking if anyone could shed any light on this one for me?
I'm looking at buying a salvage cat d car, it has minor damage to the rear quarter and tailgate. Done a full hip check and all looks above board (apart from the cat d) now the car is on a 13 plate but when I've looked into it the car was registered on the 01/11/14 so by my reckoning it should be on a 64 plate. Does anyone know why this could be and if I'll be able to get it changed? I've done a check on my ga3 system which I use for work and it says the car was manufactured on 31/12/13. I know cars can sit round a while before they are registered so that doesn't seem too odd.
Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.

Could it be a private plate (just happens to be '13 plate).
What's the reg or vin?

The reg number is YJ13PEZ will get the chassis tomorrow.
Thanks for the link about pre registered cars, I still don't understand why its date of registration is 1/11/14 surely if it was pre registered then it would have to say date of first registration......13?

spoke to dvla today and they said it goes from the date of manufacture not when it was registered so it all makes sense....

Andy, it was first registered in Jersey on 15.7.2013 (probably an ex-hire car)
I presume the 2014 date was when it was first registered with DVLA.
