LDV Convoy 2003 - Non start #

( Optional ) Engine Code or CC: ford diesel eng?

although this enquiry relates specifically to above vehicle I would appreciate your methods ie equipment for checking output signals from ring antennas positioned around ign switch/ steering locks when key is inserted.
this particular vehicle was last used a week ago on coming to it there is no crank and immob led is flashing quickly when key inserted it appears to have no separate receiver so signal then goes to ford/ Visteon ecu is this correct.any thoughts on these related topics would be appreciated ps some one tried tow start it with no joy so this would appear to rule a starter motor fault out.

I have an AD30 which is a coil detector, it bleeps when you insert a key into ignition to indicate a signal has been received but it doesn't work on all systems so can be a bit mis-leading.

Also doesn't the light flashing indicate fault codes dependant on sequence of flash. (not that i know what each flash code means)

Is it possible to place tin foil over the key head to see if this causes a different immobiliser light flashing sequence, so if its a key fault or a reader coil issue I'd hope to think a different fault code be logged.

i've had a similar problem a long time ago & i think it was caused by the engine control relay behind the glovebox on n/s.
also looms chaffing between the pump & n/s inner wing area
you should be able to read this as a transit on a scanner

After Code reading it to see if anything shows up What I would normally do is to check the Transponder in the key in a Key reader such as RW4 Silca or Zedbull etc.

The key may have been dropped and the chip damaged etc. ??

Hi Geoff,
If I remember correctly these have an immo module under the central ashtray in the dash. You can just join wires to get the cranking but would need to change the shut off solenoid on the FIP to bypass that.

job on hold at moment it belongs to a local school who have obtained another bus. they considering there next move due to age of vehicle and possible ongoing costs.
