Peugeot 107 1.0 2005 - No comms with immobiliser control module #

Hi all
Have this little pug which wont start 95% of the time (cranks , fires for about 2 secs then dies).
Launch just says No comms with immobiliser control module.

It seems to help if the battery is on charge for a little , then sometimes it will start and run.
Can anyone tell me if the imm module is part of the engine ECU or seperate. If its seperate, where is it?

I was originally called out due to the horn going off of its own accord and only disconnecting the battery would stop it.Not doing it now! The horn relay appears to be buried as part of the fusebox?
Car has a history of being flooded 2 yrs ago.Still seems damp and musty!

PSA immobilisers take out the starter motor with the ecu so were it an immo issue I would not expect it to crank. It is housed mostly in the BSI unit but needs to see several other things correct before it will function correctly. What are you using to scan it with?

I'm using a Launch Andy. I should have said the car is a 55 reg.
i did'nt think this had a BSi as such, at least not one that I'm familiar with. Is that what I'm calling a fusebox?(under bonnet, behind battery on nearside, where the horn relay appers to be buried).

I've not had anything to do with these but they have a separate immobiliser box but where its located I haven't a clue.

On a Toyota version its under the dashboard near heater box from what I've read on forums and its almost the entire dashboard out to access it.

Funny thing is I just enquired about a lost key situation at my 2 local dealers and they seem to think its no different to any other PSA model where all is needed is to apply for codes and program a new key.

As I've just purchased an AD100pro key coding machine I have access to advanced diagnostics forum and it quite clearly shows that they use a Toyota based system with a separate immobiliser box and no security codes are used like most PSA systems.

And the best part is if all keys are lost then its either a new immobiliser box or an eprom removal/read situation.

So my point is they are even confusing to the dealers so what your meant to do I don't know.

Yes, spoke to my dealer who eventually said it was on passenger side, dashboard out.
I struggled to get the the top half of the dash out (although to be fair if you'd done it before it would be quite straightforward) only to find NOTHING THERE! On the drivers side however, on/behind the instrument cluster is much wiring and modules.Spent some time looking at what i thought was the Imm module, then found out it was the central locking module. Could not for the life of me see the Imm module and was just about to give up when I spotted the it buried behind column/wiring/metalwork.
I opened it up and nothing untoward, definately not flood damaged , then once I'd plugged it back in, no more problems.Dont you just hate it when that happens?
Just to be on the safe side I pulled all fuses and connectors apart and clicked them back in and could do nothing more except put it all back together again!
Cleared all codes, roadtested and handed back.It only took me ALL DAY!
I'm just waiting for Mondays call : Caulllinn, my car wont start.

Oh how I wish it was still Hilman Hunters and Vauxhall Chevettes!!

Just to confirm that these immobilisers are not BSI based and are a dash out. Its not too bad to do but the immobiliser box is a bit awkward to remove as it not very visible.

Lee, with a lost keys situation the you need a new immobiliser unit & 2 new keys to replace. I did find a company that said they could match new keys to an original immobiliser unit but I cant find it now.

I had the same with my local dealer who told the owner I would just be able to match in new keys and it caused a bit of discussion as initially he did not seem to believe me when I said I couldn't but it got sorted when the dealer realised their mistake.

From what I have read there is software available to add a transponder chip ready to start the car but it involves the eprom chip to be removed and read to allow it to be reset or at least modified for it to work.

It amazes me how a manufacturer still produces a system like this, I know Fiat did a similar thing but that was nearly almost 15 years ago not 8 years ago.

I don't see what it achieved by having a system like this. With most you can delete lost keys and start again so not a sexurity risk.
