Went to replace rear wiper motor that had failed for the usual reason (water getting into the gearbox due to the rotten design)

Old motor would run but with no/intermittent movement of the wiper arm unless helped (Gears stripped etc).

New motor would not run at all!

Nor would a second new motor!

Both new motors were boxed as Valeo units. The numbers on the new motors (Not the sticky label, the actual various numbers on the plastic mouldings etc) matched the old one.

All the voltage supplies seem good (After all the original motor ran, it just didn't work because of internal mechanical damage)

The obvious inference is that both new units are faulty but I would find this very surprising.

Any suggestions?
