Nissan Juke 1.6 MR16DDT 2012 - Timing Chain failure #

Year of Manufacture *: 2012
( Optional ) Engine Code or CC: 1600 MR16DDT

Customer recently bought this 78000 mile Nissan Juke with full Nissan service history, but below 2000 rpm its got a timing chain rattle.
We advised him to contact Nissan who claim to know nothing about the recall going on in America for timing chain failure on this engine, which apparently comes out of the same factory as the American ones that are failing.
Anybody else come across this?
At the moment he is still chasing a response from Nissan, but is talking about getting us to do the job, because He cant afford to keep it off the road.

Yes have seen several in dealerships whilst working there with similar issues.

Thanks for reply Tony, but were these done as a recall, warranty claim or was the customer paying, as our local dealerships in Dorset are denying theres a problem?

Can't say for definite but was given the impression they were all warranty jobs

Thanks Tony.
He has had absolutely no joy from Nissan, so looks like we will be doing the job.
They say they are not aware of a fault in this country.

Yes they are good at that, Nissan were also the last to admit an issue on the Primastar m9r engine

some dealers are better than others at admitting stuff.

I'll keep my eyes open for anything official and ask next time I see one, your customer may get some cash back retrospectively.
