Daimler Double Six 5.3 1990 - Labour time for cam cover gasket #

Year of Manufacture *: 1990
( Optional ) Engine Code or CC: 5.3 Injection

We need to do the cam cover gaskets because they're leaking oil and fit a set of plugs. How long should I be quoting?

If its similar to an XJS then I'm fairly confident that the a/c pump needs lifting up to remove 1 of the spark plugs as its directly underneath.

Also the plugs can be very tight if they haven't been replaced for a long time.

Took me about an hour to find the plugs underneath all the fuel injection system on an XJS V12 last time I did one many years ago. Never did another. Was always too busy or quoted astronomical charges to scare them away. :-)

Hi Richard

There is a special socket for the front 2 plugs jag1364. you can weld a 3/8 drive to a 5/8 socket.

Once loose use a old plug lead end on a valve grinding stick to remove the rest of the way and restart.

But it is no big deal to move the air con pump out of the way

I have that special jag plug socket,but tbh,it is a waste of time if the plugs have not been out for a while.Just lift the ac pump.Much easier,as you may find the front plugs cross-threaded anyway.
