Audi A3 2007 - Battery drain 600ma #

Year of Manufacture *: 2007

I have the above with a 600ma drain from the battery, I would assume this is too much for this vehicle. Does anyone have any sensible battery drain readings for a similar vehicle please ?

About to start hunting the drain but looking like one of the networks is not going to sleep !

Any help on correct level of battery drain would be helpful.

I would expect around 50ma drain after its gone to sleep.
Have you checked for fault codes ?

Ok thanks, I've done a global scan, various stored codes but all consistent with pulling fuses etc. Cleared all and returned to customer over weekend then will attach it again. If I do a global scan after 5 mins ign off some,modules still awake,, radio, phone, sub woofer,instrument and one of the networks under live data in network module is showing as active.

Hi John

Checking voltage drop across fuses is the recommended method of testing modern systems as it avoids inducing fault codes and waking up systems.

You may need longer than 5 mins to shut down (go to sleep) and I would suspect a global scan will wake some systems up.

I have just had a MKV 2005 Golf in with a 650mA drain on the battery. It was the drivers door modal not shutting down due to a broken CAN wire in the door shut. Took a little finding as you had to pull the rubber bellows right back and through the door frame to be able to see it.

When it was fixed it had 17mA drain on the battery.

Did that log a fault code to give you a clue ?

Yes it logged a fault code. Although there where loads of fault codes logged. As I remember both front doors logged can faults along with lots of other modules so it wasn't immediately apparent what was going on. All the functions worked on the drivers door, window switches and central locking operation worked as you would expect for the other doors from the drivers operation. Which is why it had me going for a bit. It was when I scoped the CAN wires at the module I found the fault. With the module disconnected I only had signal on one cable. I was a little annoyed that I hadn't found the issue quicker but that's diagnostics for you sometimes.
