Year of Manufacture *: 2008 ( Optional ) Engine Code or CC: DIESEL M664, EXL 2987cc 24V 218 BHP
Hi Chaps Wondered if you've ever had the pleasure of working on one of these boats, very intermittently she looses drive, the revs fly up, and then suddenly she'll bang into drive again, bit scary! No fault codes, reading up we'd like to flash the engine and auto box ECU's first, anyone out there who can do this? techauthority.com doesn't help me! Only done 38k miles, no oil leaks. Thanks Stu
Re: Chrysler 300c Auto box loosing drive, sofeware update?
Hello Stuart, are you sure its not a mechanical issue, (software has been ok up till now). 4x4 versions had a recall for output shaft breaking & I found this; Recall Number: 08V295000
Recall Date: 07/02/2008
Component: POWER TRAIN:AXLE HUBS
Problem Summary: CHRYSLER IS RECALLING 5,509 MY 2008 300, DODGE MAGNUM, AND CHARGER VEHICLES. THE TORQUE RETENTION CRIMP FEATURE WAS MISSED DURING THE MANUFACTURE OF ONE LOT OF REAR AXLE HUB NUTS. THIS COULD CAUSE THE NUTS TO LOOSEN AND ALLOW THE HALFSHAFT TO DISENGAGE FROM THE WHEEL HUB.
Consequence: THIS COULD CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO LOSE POWER AND RESULT IN A CRASH WITHOUT WARNING.
What Owners Should Do: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE REAR AXLE HUB NUTS. THE RECALL BEGAN ON JULY 21, 2008. OWNERS MAY CONTACT CHRYSLER AT 1-800-853-1403.
