Citroen C3 front / BMW E39 rear coil spring issues #

Hi Guys,

Anyone else had KYB coil springs lately that do not fit correctly on above vehicles? maybe others too?

Or am I the unlucky one? However luck shouldn't really come into it when purchasing replacement parts.

I most certainly have had that exact same problem with KYB c3 "banana",springs,they foul the turret if I remember correctly, I only use genuine on c3 now with no problems at all

Hi guys
We have had the same problem with kyb springs. Yet another case of dangerous parts not fit for purpose. We now find sachs springs from ecp spot on .

Glad it ain't just me :-[ Twice ive phoned their office now to complain, it will be my last, as no more will be fitted in my shop, its a shame though that a big aftermarket parts manufacturer cannot get simple dimensions correct, as ultimately we at the sharp end endure customer displeasure and financial loss, as if this job needs any more hurdles !!!!

Hi Tony and Graham,
I'm in Essex, don't know where your from, but I would expect all returns to factors of these springs as surely made in large batches? OK got bee in me bonnet :-)

Not far from you Mitch, I am in Suffolk, had C3 spring issue twice with KYB springs, first time gave it benefit of doubt but could not stop spring fouling turret giving noise, vibration, graunching and all the rest, so took leg off ,fitted genuine spring, bingo all ok, I hate banana springs that the French seem to like, second time was same,not had too many issues with KYB but this one comes up regularly !!

Hi Tony, it can be a small world :-) Suffolk is nice and "John Grose Group" very good.

Hi Graham, Yeah KYB info great, but since my compressor can deal with different "Brands" of spring for those vehicles without problem then I can only conclude that the KYB simply didnt fit, after all, took them off used another make, Hey Presto! Job done and out the door :-)
Same with the E39, didn't locate in top or bottom mounts/cups correctly, the end coils diameter was slightly too big to seat properly, different make fitted ok :-).

But we end up either doing job twice and or waiting for another delivery etc, etc, etc, etc, customer delayed and only charged once.

Actually this has got to be funny now!

But if you look at the list of "Banana's" are these not the springs we change most????? However apparently they extend damper life according to KYB

Me I'd rather have "comfy suspension" than no steering!
