It might be worth a call to your dealer, this is a known issue and they might do it on extended warranty, I certainly had one of my customers gearboxes done FOC a few years ago at dealer.
Re: Honda Jaz-Noisy gearbox, needs new shaft bearings
Paul, If you look at Garage Management Forum, click technical information links at top of page, then scroll down to Honda, the Jazz service manual is available there with gearbox disassembly details.Whats more its all free!
Thank you for that. I keep forgetting about the technical information page.
Doesn't look so bad a job, I am definitely tempted to give it a go. If I do I will take photos/do a vid and post them for your pleasure!
Cheers,
Paul

It was really very straight forward.
The procedure for removing/replacing gear box is pretty straightforward.
The "Haynes Book of Lies" describes it well.
However.
You do not need to remove the starter. Just the big upper bolt.
Do not remove the rear engine mount. Just unbolt it from the sub frame.
Replace the ARB bushes while you have the sub frame off the car.
You will inevitably end up breaking some of the "Reusable" under tray/wheel arch liner retaining clips, so you will need to make sure you order up some replacements.
(You will certainly need replacements for the 3 simple one piece push in clips that retain the bottom of the wheel arch liner to the rear of the front wing, the under tray two part push clips are larger than the wheel arch ones, you will likely need a couple of spares for each)
All I replaced was the single input shaft bearing so unless you are unlucky or the job was delayed until the other bearings were damaged too, you do not need to replace all of them.
The bearing replacement procedure is described well in this YouTube clip
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cDuuzzORk4c
(Although this is for a civic, the internal construction of the gearbox is almost identical)
It took me a bit of a while since I am not set up to do Clutches etc but this is actually a nice easy job for anybody who has a workshop equipped with a car lift and transmission jack.
(The worst part is unscrewing the bolts holding the rack to the sub frame. Access is poor and the position awkward for delivering the necessary force by hand. If you make a habit of fixing these you might want to make up a cranked spanner to make this job a bit easier)
