Range Rover 2.5 1998 - ABS light on #

Hi

I have had this Range Rover come in with ABS light on so connected snap-on solus ultra and read codes 2 stored pump running when not switched on and internal ecu failure. not having done much work on this type of vehicle it seems like either water has got into unit or just that unit is faulty, I thought about sending ecu off to be tested first and see if they find anything.

Just wondered if anyone has come across similar problem before I start getting to involved.

Are you sure that the scanner is giving the correct info?This will be a Wabco system with the hydraulic modulator under the bonnet and the ecu in the passenger footwell.Not seen water entry in either of these units.Perhaps more in depth testing reqd.

Hi Paul
Not to say this is your problem but We had one last week, My solus pro said exactly the same "internal failure of ecu" and therefore no data, my thoughts were the same as yours. customer took it to a RR specialist they told him the ecu was bullit proof and diagnosed no speed signal from osr sensor, they sold him a sensor and brought to to me to fit .we found the sensor wire cut cleanly in half on the axle soldered back together and happy days.Also as sensors are a push fit worth checking air gaps.

Also check the relays in the fuse box. Two relay for the ABS, the bottom one is a known problem, can burn and stick or fail to make a contact.

Hi still working on this problem, checked wiring to sensors all seem ok and all 4 sensors are giving a reading. went mad and sent it off to BBA-REMAN who said on the phone they could test ecu then they phoned me and said sorry cant test this one.so were back to square one good job the customers not in a hurry for it.will be taking relays out next and seeing if any sign of burning.will keep you informed,Many thanks for responses. According to the guys on LandyZone. these ECU's rarely give any trouble. If the pump is running when it should be off, either the relay is faulty, or I have just had to source a pressure from the States (but my pump isn't running when it should)
