VW Golf 1.6 BLF 2007 - Engine will not turn off until key is removed #

( Optional ) Engine Code or CC: BLF 1.6

Hi can you tell me if this is correct or not. I have a VW Golf FSI 2007. When you turn the ignition off the engine still keeps running until you remove the key from ignition. I would assume that this is not correct procedure.

I have been in touch with my nearest VW agents and they said that they have changed ignition switch electrical socket and harness on some Golf's. I tried this but still the same fault. I have checked the fuse box under bonnet and found no faults so far.

Hi Mike,

Has any work been done on this vehicle, did the fault suddenly appear or been intermittent ?

Have you checked the wiring diagram ?

I have seen cars that will keep running even with the key removed, usually caused by incorrect bulb fitment.

Hi Glyn thanks for reply. This car was recently purchased and only came to me saying that the engine was a little lumpy at junctions. Carried out a full code scan and found no faults. This was when I said that it would not switch off correctly. They said that it was like it when they bought the car. I did notice that the radio had been replaced with a different one but they also said it was like it before they changed the radio.

Hello Mike, try disconnecting the radio, had a similar fault a while back, I think it was just the permanent & switchable lives the wrong way around.
