VW Passat 1.9 2007 - Electronic handbrake fault #

( Optional ) Engine Code or CC: 1900

Hi all

We have a VW Passat in and the electronic handbrake is playing up on it, it gets to a point where it will not come off, this has happened twice now to the customer both times having to get the AA out to remove ( battery disconnect ). We have got two codes from it so far 01299 Diagnostic interface got data bus J533 no comms. 02443 Control head not a plausible signal. Has any one come across this before.

Hi Steve,

Along with switches playing up on these .. .. There is also an update for the EHB ECU.

pull out the switch, if the part no on it ends in 'B' then its broken

Some times the ECU " sees" the new switch unit and assumes that its had a configuration change, therefore it wipes its own software coding and asks for a new one :-)
