VW Passat CBAB 2009 - No comms to rear left door, code 1333 - Unresolved #
Posted by Martin Rogers on August 19, 2014, 6:02 pm
Year of Manufacture *: 2009 WVWZZZ3CZ9P063841 ( Optional ) Engine Code or CC: CBAB 1968cc
Left rear door lock/window inoperative, fault code 1333 door control module, rear ,left,j388-no signal/communication. New lock unit fitted by previous garage.
How i see the system working the convenience control unit sends a can h & can l signal to the front passenger door control unit (part of the window motor) this then sends a LIN signal (single wire) to the rear door control unit.
First check was power & grounds all good to all doors, compared Lin signal the drivers side similar to a single can signal switching 1v to battery voltage, the passenger side a very slow switch 5v to 12volts ie poor signal before changing the control unit at £283 i swapped the control units over including the rear doors to find the drivers side still worked ok giving a good Lin signal. And the working drivers side unit now fitted to the passenger side still giving a poor signal and not operating the rear door !
Then compared the can signals side to side no difference, fed good Lin signal from drivers side to rear left and the window and locking worked fine obviously controlled by the drivers side. Wiring through the pillars checked and rechecked.
It would appear to be a faulty front passenger control unit but swapping over made no difference, same with a supplied second hand convenience unit made no difference, coding and advise using Autologic.
Sorry for the long post wanted to get all the tests/thoughts over I would really appreciate any help or advise
Hi. Before going any further I would load test the wiring for both LH doors. When you fed the signal from the RHF door did you disconnect the original LIN wire from the rear door? Did you try to feeding the signal from the LHF door? Regards. Fiachra.
Hi Fiachra, I have already load tested the wiring, and I did disconnect the LH LIN before connecting the RH. Haven't tried putting the LH LIN to the RH as the scope signal for he LH side isn't correct, although it isn't such a effort with it stripped down to try will do tomorrow
many thanks for the reply, must learn how to upload from pico the scope images.

Hi Andy, i had cut the lin from the control unit in the front door and connected it direct to the rear door still no joy, but thanks anyway.
