Hi all' Apologies if this is in the wrong place, but any idea how I can remove the auto locking of all the doors when the car is driven above about 5mph? The handbook says only the dealer can do it , so I thought it would be a simple job for the Launch. I've spent about an hour trawling through various modules without success (dont you just hate doing that?). Can someone please point me in the right direction? Cheers
An update, after talking to a fellow tech, he told me of the self same difficulty with a similar customers car he had.
It seems that E39's of around 2000' vintage have the 16 pin OBD connection AND the old 20 pin round connector under the bonnet! (something I hadn't even considered).
I had been going into the BMW system using the OBD connection , and getting basic comms with the engine , gearbox, airbag but not much else.He said to use the round connector, although his launch would comm with all the modules but still wouldn'nt disable the auto locks. His machine was last updated 3 yrs ago.
I used the 20 pin round connector under the bonnet, (my programme was last updated about 6 months ago, version 46.3 I think) then went to E39 ,then coding/programme then ZKE central body electronics (not necessarily in that order!) and its all there including other settings for lights, alarm and locking - job done!
