Alfa Romeo Mito 1.6 2009 - Oil service warning light reset #

Greetings,

This is a long shot but worth a go. I was called to a local garage who had serviced the vehicle and wanted the Oil Service Warning Light extinguished. This takes the form of a flashing red oil light and a message on the instrument cluster.

I found that my Autocom although goes through the reset procedure, does not reset the warning light or the message. My Sykes ACR4 G2 can carry out the reset but which requires the Uniplexer which at the moment I do not possess.

My question is this: Is there a manual way this can be reset? Research tells me that the main dealer wants something like £70 to do this 2 minute job.

Not sure if it helps Pete, but I remember having a problem with a Fiat Diesel reset the once (Bravo I think).
Ended up going through the other Fiats until it reset (think it was a Grande Punto, but couldn't be sure).

Just a thought, it's not the French 1.6 is it?
If so, depress Accelerator and brake pedals together, turn ignition on and wait for up to 1 minute, or until oil can flashes.

For info - we do all the FIAT & Alfa DPF equipped diesel service resets for a workshop around the corner with our KTS 570.
He uses Maxidas & Autodiagnos & says Alfa & FIAT won't reset using these.

With KTS there is a ignition off waiting period after the reset followed by ignition on & reset successful message.

I did a 2012 1.3 Mito service reset today for him.

We charge him a tenner a go - we do all his Audi & Golf 7 based model resets too.

Thank you both for your responses thus far. The vehicle is the 1.6 variant and the garage will contact the owner to give the manual reset a go. I was interested in the reset procedure with the diagnostic tools. My Autocom gives no mention of the "wait time" and as a consequence, I started the vehicle straight away after the reset procedure. This I guess is why the reset failed.
