Vauxhall Vectra C 2004 - Cabin temperature change when turning #

Hello guys

Just a quick one this is my own personal car.
So actually getting time to test it is slim and not sure the mrs and kids be happy if I had my one day off a week to play on own car.

Not sure if engine will affect this fault but its a 3.0 cdti (y30dt)
Its standard heater controls.
When the heater is on hot when turning left the heater seems to change to blow cold air for time of the turn.

Only noticed a couple weeks ago.

Not a massive problem but thought I'd ask here of anyone seen anything similar so I could take a quick look at might help

I think this is a fairly common characteristic Adam & something that I have noticed on many cars that I have driven.

It is hard to appreciate the effect of gravity on gases of different densities, but what I believe you are experiencing is simply the effect of the G forces generated when cornering, causing the stratified warm / cool air regions to swirl around the cabin.

I have noticed that this effect that you have mentioned is more pronounced when the blower is set quite low & the cabin air is quite stable. If the heater fan speed is increased, the cornering effect on heat is minimal.

This is my theory at least.

I understand what your saying and your theory behind it. But it is something I've only noticed in past few weeks.

It almost feels as if the cold switch has been hit because its definite temperature change.

Whilst in the forces I used to travel up and down country approx 3k a month and never noticed and temp changes then.

No body else has commented on it. Maybe I'm loosing the plot.

Weird stuff. I'm not massively bothered by it. Was just looking to see if anyone had something similar that it could be on a quick check.

Simple enough to prove Adam, just take some temperature readings at the vents when you experience the shift in temperature. You should be able to determine if the heat output remains stable & perhaps draw a conclusion from this?
