Year of Manufacture *: 2008 ( Optional ) Engine Code or CC: 2.0 diesel
Got this 2008 BMW 120d in which has a problem with the bulb failure warning appearing. All lights are functioning fine but it logs 2 fault codes in drivers footwell module (I think it was).
Seems to be with mainly ignition switch cycling or when reverse is selected (manual box)
I have checked all bulbs and each match b up raitings on each cluster, fitted new side light 501 bulbs to front. Faults codes are
parking light rh side faulty (a8ad I think) backup light rh side faulty (a8ac I think)
Has 16 watt bulbs which are a capless type similar to 501 but larger version for reversing lights and standard 21 watt single filament bulbs for parking light.
swapped rear cluster from left to right but fault still stays with rh side. The only common link I can see from my very limited wiring diagram is the earth location for stop/tail and reversing/backup lights. This is located somewhere within the rh rear wheel housing according to tolerance data.
I was going to add my own earth, for a test, is this adviseable? No double filament bulbs used so guess they are reducing power for side lights.
