Jaguar XJ8 3.2 V8 1998 - Electrical problem - Fixed #

( Optional ) Engine Code or CC: 3.2 sport v8

hello guys i have a problem at the moment with my old jag it starts and runs ok but if i put the lights on they start to re pond to my revs and the dash starts to display all sorts of messages abs stability control gearbox etc i have checked every relay earths etc i can find but i don't know to much about jags any help thankyou jim

tony thanks for your help i will check again tomorrow i will also check if there is a charging relay i don't know jags that well thanks again. jim

Hi Jim. Forget about it being a Jag, Think of it as a "CAR"

As Tony says, Check the charging, It sounds as though it is overcharging, Don't worry about charge Relays, It will simply be a conventional Alternator with a built in regulator.

Anything above 14.5V and you could have a problem, but I bet yours is going much higher when revved. ??

P,S How can you admit to not knowing about them when you have bought one to practise on. ??

lads thank you for your help tony you were spot on the charge was 17 to 18 volts once again thanks for your input and merry xmas to all. jim
