I have a customer brought a bmw 318d e91 in to us complaining that they cant get reverse gear and they think it needs a clutch , a quick drive in the car all other gears seem ok but when selecting reverse and releasing the clutch the car jumps out as if the stick isn't quite far enough forward to engage reverse the only way reverse can be selected is by using a bit of force when selecting as if it gets that bit more movement , their is no grinding when selecting any gears .I have had a look at the selector underneath and cant see any adjustment which was my initial thought and I don't get the impression its the clutch is any one aware of any gear box problems or faults that cause this im very dubious of fitting a clutch as im not convinced its that thanks lee
