VW Sharon ASZ 2004 - Central locking and electric window fault - Fixed #

( Optional ) Engine Code or CC: ASZ

Evening all, I have the above car in at the moment, the central locking and the electric windows are not working, the customer said that every thing went at the same time,
There is no comms with either module, and I have checked the fuses near the battery and under the steering wheel and there all ok,

There is no power to any of the wires going to the drivers door control module,I am just wondering where the door module is getting its power from or if anyone would know where I could get a diagram for the central locking?

Auto data don't seem to be much help when dealing with such systems,

Make a start with wiring to tailgate, very prone to breakages here that affect things you would not imagine.

I would also check the wiring where it runs through the drivers door conduit.Probably find a few wires here fractured,especially the main power and earth supplies.

Thanks for your replies lads,
I have checked the wires between the drivers door and the sill and they are all looking good, there is no power supply coming through them at all,

I will give a look at the tail gate wiring alright I haven't checked them,

It seems the central locking and the electric windows went down at the same time and both must have a common power supply, thing is where

If I recall ,there is a main power splice connector ,red wires,in the wiring harness that runs along the near side sill,by passenger seat.Worth a look.Also have you tried powering the dead supply wire in the door shut?

Hi Trevor

IIRC; going on a Ford Galaxy, these have a multi function module incorporated in the fusebox, including C/L and E/W control among others.

I think you will struggle without a wiring diagram. Are you sure AD does not have one.

Looking at the wiring diagram for this,(on AD)the only common feature is the power supply from the battery fuse/junction box.Have you checked the metal strip fuses?There may be one fractured with a hairline crack,rather than blown.

I'd also be leaning towards a broken wire in one of the door hinges but does this have the module under the passenger seat that fills with water when the scuttle drains block like the early ones? Use to often wind windows up & down + mess with locking.

Many thanks to you all for spending your time replying to my post,
Auto data is after supplying me with a diagram and the car is coming in Saturday, so hopefully I will get to the bottom of it,
I will let you all know how it goes,

I got to the bottom of this a bit faster than I taught, the screw in wiring connector on the drivers door sill was leaking water in to it,the wire connectors were corroded pretty bad,

I cleaned up the pins and put every thing back together and all is well,
