Jaguar XJ8 3.2 1998 - Overheating - Fixed #

hi guys i was just wondering if anyone had any info regarding a problem i am encountering with my car it has started to overheat and i am just not sure if at the moment iam jumping the gun by thinking head gasket or water pump i am sure i have heard here that the pumps have a reputation for shearing any help thanks jim..

lads thankyou both for your replies i removed the thermostat and it made no differance and i am going to check the water pump before i condem the head gasket the cars to old to get to involved thanks again. jim

Impellor coming loose on water pump is a common fault on these.

Bit like on VAG and BMW!

Why the designers ever thought that plastic was a good idea I will never know!

HI GUYS I JUST REMOVED THE WATER PUMP ON MY JAG AND THERE IS NOT ONE BLADE LEFT ON THE IMPELLER SO I CAN GET ONE FROM EURO CAR PARTS FOR £38 SO ALL THATS LEFT FOR ME TO SAY IS ONCE AGAIN THANKS TO ALL FOR YOUR HELP.JIM
