Autodata alternatives #

It looks as if I am not going to be continuing my Autodata subscription when it comes up next.

The shift to being a purely on-line service is untenable for me.

(There are also personal reasons, I am going to have to semi-retire so it is necessary to cut back on subscription type financial commitments)

I will still need access to fault code data, General vehicle data, wiring diagrams and timing belt data for the time being (What have I missed?? )

Would anybody have any suggestions for Books/manuals (Or non-time bombed digital media*) that might provide an alternative source of suitable information??

I know Autodata do these, but are they the poor relation?? Are there alternatives to Autodatas manuals??

(* I would be perfectly happy to continue using my current Autodata DVD, I will likely have retired fully before I see vehicles new enough for it to become effectively outdated, unfortunately Autodata don't do things that way! Dog in a Manger and all that! )

Auto-data are NOT stopping their off-line C/D's

I have spoken to them today about it and they know nothing about it.

Hi Mark,
Think you may have spoken to the cleaner

I have a letter from Autodata dated May 1st regarding my subscription renewal and they state as from January 2014 they will be allowing access to "My subscription" by internet only !

I will phone them again tomorrow.

I asked that very question today because I saw the posts on here, and was told that they had NO intention of stopping the C/D's

What name is at the bottom of the letters you both have ?

Hi Guys
I also have had the letter!! Name on the letter is Jo Rogers from the subsciptions support team. The date given is 'As From January 2014'subscriptions will be via the internet ONLY.

Just spoken to them again, it seems that they are back tracking on the idea.

The letter sent out in Jan did tell you that they would only be on ON LINE option from 2014, but that line has been removed from the subs letters sent out later in the year.

I have asked for a letter stating their stance on the above for the duration of my subscription (that is due now)and will post the reply when I get it.

I now have the written reply that is different again from what I was told this morning over the phone.
I do wish their staff could tell the truth/be bothered to find out the companies stance on this before they tell me a load of bollox !!!

The written reply is as follows:

As from January 2014, to provide our subscribers with the best level of service possible we will be providing access to your subscription via the internet only. Our browser based online application provides full access to all your subscription content and is constantly updated ensuring youÃ¢â‚¬â„¢re always aware of the latest manufacturer changes, whilst retaining the familiar look and feel of the traditional DVD.

For the next 12 months we will of course continue to send your updates via DVD as normal.'
Although as from beginning of January we will be offering online access only to our new customers, current subscribers will still benefit from DVD version until the end of 2014. If you have any more queries please contact our Subscription Support Team on 01628688111.
