VW Passat 1999 - Central locking not working on 3 doors #

Year of Manufacture *: 1999

Hi

I have this Passat in at the moment with the o/s/f, o/s/r and n/s/r central locks not working.

I jump the gun and fitted 3 second hand central lock units and it still doesn't work. I have intermittent door module communication fault codes.
The passenger front works fine. no function on VCDS to operate door lock

Any help please?

Replace the motor with a bulb and walk the "consumer" back along the circuit until it works.

if the module under nsf floor is swimming its worth checking with in the harness for multi splices as water ingress rotts them

The passenger side floor was wet but the connectors are bone dry. I sprayed with elec cleaner anyway and the drivers door works now but still nothing to rear doors. Will check splice joints next week. Also if this helps they seem to jump on rear locks so must be getting power! .
Mark can you explain what you mean if I connect bulb to motor. are my moving bulb along wire?

I think Mark meant for you to substitute the motor with the bulb as its a visual aid to current consumption and a lot easier to work with than moving a motor around the vehicle to do your testing!

As for moving it along the wiring this will prove and pinpoint the location of a possible short or open in the supply, i.e if the bulb illuminates one side of a plug connector and not the other then obviously you have an issue within or at that connector. Apologies if you were aware of this and just misunderstood Marks advice

Hi,
Had this one back in yesterday and I tested can wires from central convenience mod to passenger door mod both sides and resistances and voltage was fine, I scoped it to and it seemed fine . Tested all lives and earths all fine , must be either a central con mod or door mod.
Owner doesn't want to spend any money on it and is happy to lock rear doors manually as front work. So will never no what solves it.

I had an 04 golf in the other day that had all 4 doors fail on deadlock, and it was all 4 motors! Owner says they went all at the same time!!
