Toyota Rav 4 2.2 D4D 2008 - Intermittent non starting #

A friend of mine has a problem some mornings starting his Rav 4. The head gasket has been done lately as she was letting compression into water. Since head was done this starting problem has surfaced.

Most of the time it is ok but maybe 1 out of 5 morning it takes a lot of cranking before it fires off.He has had injectors checked and compression is ok. Water problem is ok now.

Any ideas

No fault codes coming up

Evening Liam,

Were the compressions done engine cold? I have been to a few vehicles (not RAV4) over the years with a similar problem. All were due to not having new stretch bolts fitted.

Spoke to owner and he says he had compression test done hot and cold.He thinks it may be a diesel problem as it is ok 4 out of 5 mornins.
Thanks for reply,will keep ye posted when i hear more.
