Vauxhall Corsa Z12XE 2001 - Help required with Vaux Com #

Hi,
Borrowed Vaux com to try and reset "desired idle speed" on above car,(after it had been set at 2000revs with a different machine, but could not be undone with it)
Havn`t used this before, and I can`t input the new idle figure,although I think I am in the right screen(reset learnt values).
I can`t delete the existing figure to replace it.
Any help would be appreciated,thanks.

Not done this adjustment before but I'd guess its probably listed in special functions or programming options menu.

I do know I have seen this option on some vauxhall's using tech 2 but don't think it was on a corsa, a vectra 1.8 springs to mind.

I have not done this with Tech 2 or Vauxcom (Never needed to) but if I remember correctly when looking at the menus / functions I did not think the idle speed could be adjusted that far, thought it was more of a "trimming" adjustment.

Someone may have more experience of the process may correct me but it may be there is another issue with the vehicle.

Hi Steve,

For what its worth I'm with you. 2000 Rpm for idle seems far too high for a adjustment. I thought it was more like + / - 50 Rpm.

I didn't read the post properly, as said I doubt you can adjust the idle speed that high. iirc the increments are 25rpm but not sure on the maximum adjystment.

Is it possible (I know some vauxhall diesel's do it) that the ecu has gone into emergency running mode so holding the engine speed higher than normal.

I had an astra y17dtl which idled at 1500rpm due to the ecu being faulty which lost its throttle control so switched to emergency running mode. Also had fault codes listed but you haven't mentioned any.

Dai I think I have got a spare throttle body for one of those.
If you pop other Monday I,ll give you it to try.
Maybe then it can be learned.

Hi, and thanks for all the responses.
I will try and expand on how this idle problem came about(caused by myself)should have left well alone!
Car came in with eng light on,(although running as normal)plugged in my Launch Diagun, fuel trim fault,cleared fault,road tested,ok.as car is just poodling around town most of the time, I thought I`d give car back and let it develop,after road test I had a play with the Launch, see what it could do, went to adjust idle speed, thought it was running a little slow,tapped "increase" a few times(no indication as to how much it was increasing by)and it wasn`t increasing as I was tapping the screen, so came out of the sreen,engine revved to 2000rpm,went back to the screen to decrease, hit decrease once,engine falls back to normal idle(no save button on screen)car can now be driven as nothing wrong,when diagnostic lead unplugged car revs up to 2000rpm again,no fault codes.
So I`m thinking that LEE might be right in what he says.Will contact supplying dealer on monday for security code to reset ECU.
I also thought that using a more dedicated bit of equipment might get things back to normal,so borrowed Vaux Com for w/end,hence my enquiry.There seems to be a facility in programming to reset desired idle, but I can`t remove the 2000 figure to replace it with a suitable numbr.sorry for the long story,Thought I should tell it like it is.Thanks again.

You can read the security code from the IPC with vaux com no need to go to dealer

Sorry I mean instrument then select the read eeprom menu.
