Honda Civic 1.7 TD 2004 - Remote locking remotes not working - Fixed #

Hi your thoughts on this please,

The central locking is working but only with the key in the door not remotely, I have two remotes they will both work when in programming mode (key on/off button pressed 4 times) but they will not work with the key out of the ignition.

I have access to the Honda HDS it does not seem to give me any live data I was unable to access the BCM and didn't want to go into the immobiliser and wipe a key!

I have found the key less entry module Honda part # 38385-S7A-G01 with 5 pin connector it has ign live to pin 3 and nbv to pin 5 this module is £179.79+ but does seem to pick up the remotes just not with the key out so not sure it's at fault?

Will I the find the remote live data under the immobiliser, am I missing something or has anyone had previous experience??

Hi Rob I have done a quite a few Honda's but not the Key less entry type. The aerial/receiver for the remotes without key less are near the rear view mirror, and might be the same on key less entry types.

Have they just stopped working or has the owner had a play changing batteries etc.

If I remember rightly once in programming mode the remotes are wiped and require re programming, Which I think you have just done, and is why the locks cycle when the keys are in the ignition confirming successful programming. So it's got to be either keys are not sending signal or Aerial/Receiver in my view. But could be miles out

Hi Keith,

The remotes are the seperate ones from the key I have fitted new batteries to both, the RF receiver is mounted behind the dash on the O/S of the heater box, that's the thing it is definately receiving the signal from both remotes because as you put in programming mode (4 presses) then press the unlock button on each remote it will unlock the car (if locked before starting but will not lock it if unlocked when starting just cycles it-a fail safe I guess)

I'm with you thinking the receiver unit but it would be an expensive mistake I couldn't charge for!!

Just a thought,could it be related to the system not seeing a key out of ignition lock,or drivers door not opening?Does the interior light work from drivers door?

Hi Andy,

I wondered this the interior light does come on when the car is unlocked with the key, I was hoping to check all relevant live data but couldn't see it with the HDS unless I need to go further into the immobilser option but the subheadings didn't read like they were relevant to central locking just the Immob

Hi Rob is everything else working on the car, interior light switching from all doors, boot light etc.

I think you are going to struggle to diagnose this 100% without access to live data.
