Volkswagen Passat CBBB 1999 - Common rail camshaft fitment #
Posted by Declan McCormack on November 15, 2012, 12:14 pm We are replacing hydraulic lifters to this common rail diesel and there are no set up marks etc for the camshafts, Just checked erwin system and it has big warnings that a jig is required to fit the camshafts otherwise damage will occur to the retainer journals. Tried TPS and they list the baseplate of the jig at £500 odd pound but they dont list the clamps etc that go with it so contacted 3 local dealers who claim they havent got the tool. So has anyone fitted camshafts to this engine as yet and if so have you just bolted down the retainer evenly without damage or have you had to get a dealer to do it. We have marked up everything so timing is not a problem just concerned we may break the retainer which then means a new cylinder head.
