Renault Meganne 1.9D 1997 - Key programing after battery replacement #

It would appear that this is a 5 digit keyfob.

Owner has changed batteries and now cannot start car(I have not seen it, just talked on the phone)

Autodata's offerings on battery replacement procedure only seems to offer a picture of a disemboweled key fob (IE No text/instructions)

Is it possible to get these keys to work again by sequential button pressing or do they need reprograming from scratch?

There is a simple program to get the emergency code. i think it is available on the BBA site or would be easily found if you google it.

There will be a number inside the key to generate a 4 digit pin code,

You enter this via the CDL button, and then program the remote, whilst in learn mode.

It is more likely he has snapped off the LCD whilst changing the battery and will need soldering back on,

LCD? aah LED got it now

Easy to check if it is emitting, just look at the LED with the camera on your mobile phone and press the button. If it is then you will have to put the code in on the CDL switch as mentioned.
