BMW 320D E90 2007 - Steering lock light on (red) #

Year of Manufacture *: 2007

BMW in to day with steering lock light on (red).
Code A116 Electronic ignition lock control unit faulty...
Assuming it is the steering column that if faulty is it a straight swap or does it need reprograming?

It will need programing.However you may find that Bmw will do this fault under goodwill warranty as there have been a few issues with these columns.

On some of these you can get away with just a software update. Otherwise it'll be a new column and programming.
