Landrover Freelander TD4 2003 - Hand brake not holding #

Year of Manufacture *: 2003

We have had this vehicle in several times with handbrake not holding. Removed drums and it seems quite a complicated set up. Everything seems to be free and moving but car still moves on 4 clicks of handbrake on any slight hill

Any ideals anyone

These are shocking anyway, I normally give the shoes a nice leading edge, also lube that stupid bar system they got in there, and that normally sorts it out.

as above stupid lever system seems to wear sloppy
we have has some success bulding up with weld the slot on the lever where it goes through shoe
to take some slop out

Hi,
When working correctly the Freelander handbrake is very good, better than most. The reason being is the complicated linkage actually presses both shoes out top & bottom.
Usually the linkages are just seized & need stripping down & freeing off & cleaning.
Sometimes (rarely) you might have to renew the linkage & shoes.
