Land Rover Discovery 4 3.0 V6 2010 - Brake pedal on floor, non-start - Fixed #

Year of Manufacture *: 2010
( Optional ) Engine Code or CC: 3.0 TDV6

Arrived at garage this afternoon to fine this car on ramp.
Brake pads and discs have been renewed. When tech tried to pump-up brakes, pedal pulled itself to fkllor, where it seems to have jammed.

Cannot get vehicle to start. Ignition will not stay on unless switch held in.

What the hell has happened?

Hello Joe, I'm pretty sure the discovery 4 has "emergency brake assist". I'm guessing its picked up that the peddle was pressed faster than usual so "eba" has cut in.

You're right, Alan. I think this is what's happened.

No DTcs stored. Carried out 'Global DTC Clear' and Module reset in special functions section of Autodiagnos.

Situation the same.

Can't find any information on this issue.

Found the link for TOPIx - nice.

Doesn't seem anything unusual in renewing brakes...

A bit of reading to do methinks.

Any help much appreciated.

I don,t know too much about Autodiagnos, but i think a better scanner will show some-thing.

Seems that brake servo has jammed in 'forward' position. Cannot raise brake pedal with master cylinder disconnected.

Don't know why it won't start.
No comms with immobiliser module.
Brake switch working ok.

maybe brake ECU has to see brake pressure before allowing engine to start?

Well. this boiled-down to a crap quality TRW servo. It jammed in forward position when brake pedal was pressed past usual range of travel. Engine wouldn't start because I presume ECU has to see actual brake pressure, not just a completed circuit through switch.

I know you have fixed this but you should never pump the pads out in this manner.

Always operate the pedal little and often.

You are opening up a whole heap of trouble doing it any other way. HTH
