BMW 318 E46 2006 - Diff oil spec / availability #

Year of Manufacture *: 2006

Factors don't list this as an option. BMW doesnt sell in refill quantities (Bit like Jaguar and the LT71141)

Does anybody have a recomendation for this?

I dont really believe that this stuff is Sooo specific that nothing else will do!

(I mean, what is the "Special ingrediant"?? Essence of pulverised Esquilax testicles??! It is a Diff. Its going to be made of the same materials (Metels, synthetic rubbers, friction materials (I guess it is an LSD) etc ) as any other Diff. What makes the BMW so special??)

If there are any lubricants for BMW that are not available from my other suppliers, I have just taken an empty container to my local BMW parts dept and asked for whatever quantity required and never had any problems in purchasing it. That's how I purchase auto trans fluid for BMW or any M spec oils for diffs etc. To avoid any come backs I like to know the specified oil has been used but I would imagine any of the BMW owners forums will have had this discussion and could recommend an alternative.

Paul, speak to Ed Kapps(site sponser Teeside Autotech) and ask him what he uses, he also has an online shop you can purchase oil from.

The 75w/140 oil is for LSD spec diffs, 318i will be conventional diff with 75W/90 requirement. Our oil does not have the 'special ingredient'either and you are quite right about a diff being a diff.
