Chevrolet oil filter - A WARNING! #

( Optional ) Engine Code or CC: B12 D1

It appears that around 2008 the "clowns" at Chevrolet decided to change the oil filter thread from 3/4"U.N.F.x16 to M18. PLEASE be aware of this, the "older" filter will fit but can come loose with the inevitable dire consequences. It has happened to us, 1 ruined engine and a very unhappy customer! We have also heard of other cars with the wrong filter fitted at some point, the Matiz and some Vauxhalls come to mind. The CORRECT filter is stamped "18" next to the thread. PLEASE BE WARNED & AWARE!

This happened to Vauxhall about 25 years ago IIRC. They never learn..

Firstly thank you for posting the warning and yes vauxhall did pull the same stunt a few years ago

Hope you managed to claim cost of ruined engine from your insurers ( unless you managed successfully claim off filter supplier which I doubt)

Same thing, and even caught some dealer mechanics.

Just realised that I can remember the engine type (B141E) and the part number of the original filter (1266286) off the top of my head after 30+ years.

I am an even sadder person than I thought I was.
