BMW 535d twin turbo 2007 - Surging #

morning all
i have a customer with a 535d twin turbo 2007 model that when travelling at about 2000rpm it starts to hunt slightly, you can see the rev counter dropping by about 300 rpm.
i have done all vacuum pipes, engine breather and checked all ecu's via autologic and it shows no fault codes.
anyone experianced this and if so know the answer please

I've been told its the torque converter in the auto-box "slipping". Mine does this but only at 2000rpm - anything slightly over or under this and its fine.
