Saab 9-3 1.9 Z19DT 2006 - Code P2279 & power loss #

Year of Manufacture *: 2006
( Optional ) Engine Code or CC: Z19DT

Hi can any one give me some information on a power loss fault. the car has only done 26000 miles from new, and I have a fault code of P2279. I have checked for air leaks in system and pipes from inter cooler, but no fault found. I was going to check the EGR valve but thought I would check it out with you all first.

Replaced lots and lots of egr valves on these for that fault code. theres 2 different typres of valve and there only 100 or 140 euro off dealer here in ireland.

The lovely Fiat engine. The EGV valve sticks. Think i've got these from Euro Car Parts before.

Tech 2 can do an EGR test.

EGR,s were in short supply a few years ago and a cleaning TSB was avaliable.

As for ECP or as they are more commonly known Fake (crap) (rubbish) Car Parts, Don,t go there.

Thanks for the reply, EGR valve was my thought on this one, with three of you on the same line I will do this first and let you know.

What makes you so negative about the Pierburg units from ECP Kev? I know ECP are shocking but I don't see whats wrong with parts literally the same as OE. I got a Pierburg throttle flap off them the other day for a Audi which even had the VAG part number cast in it.

Back to the topic you can clean them by unbolting the solenoid from the valve. You'll find the pin that the solenoid acts on sticks in - it should normally spring in and out. A bit of a clean and lubricate gets them working again.

Unfortunately we buy parts from ECP (out of my conrol) and believe me they do sell some rubbish but also some branded items such as Delphi, ATE, Pierbug which are all OE fitment so don't see the real problem there either.

But then ive also read that they are just excellent copies in hard to believe identical looking boxes.

I don't know what/who to believe but did laugh the other day when i priced up a timing belt kit.

They asked me if i wanted a cheap kit or a good quality kit, now that isn't even a question to be asked.
