Vauxhall Astra 1.6 16SE 2001 - ECU code #

Year of Manufacture *: 2001
( Optional ) Engine Code or CC: 1.6 8 valve 16se engine

customer has replaced cyl head with manifold and now it wont start key light flashes on dash so have tried to reprgram key no luck, he had left the engine ecu from s/h head on the car is the key code stored in there cannont reuse the old ecu as he has left that out in the snow and its full of water any idea how to reprogram or will he need the reg no of the car where he got s/h head and program it using that no many thanks Wayne

http://www.allvox.co.ukNot entirely sure which way it works but i think you need to read chassis number from ecu fitted now (which is the wrong one) then hopefully you can apply for the car pass which will have the immobiliser code on it.

You may need to generate reg number from chassis number.

Sykes-Pickavant offer this service to UKAT members now or through vauxhall dealer. Once you have code (can only hope its correct) you then reset ecu if you have a diag tool that has this feature (vaux-com).

You then need to re-program/re-install ecu with the original immobiliser code supplied with the car that's had the cylinder head replacement.

I think to re-install you need to enter immobiliser, (under body) select programming, then option that states ecu replaced.

Can't remember exactly but something along those lines.

or,

send it to Allvox who maybe able to reset it for you but you still need equipment to re-install.

Ask them for advise as well.

Once you have all that Lee states,kick technician in the nether regions for leaving the old ECU outside.

Hi Lee, not sure that info is entirely correct as you will need the immo code for the original car. I think the best advice is to contact Allvox, find out what needs sending to them enabling plug and play. This will save a lot of frustration in the long run. Regards, SteveL.

Steve,

Sorry mate i thought i said you'd need the code for the donor car and the original immobiliser code for the car which has had the head gasket replaced.

Probably didn't explain it all that well but basically you'll need to purchase 2 codes.
