Mercedes Benz E Class 220 2000 - ESP / BAS fault with brake light switch #

Year of Manufacture *: 2000

Hi Guys,
I have a problem with this cars Esp/Bas, it comes up with a fault
with the brake light switch, quite common I think so I replaced it
with a pattern part, nil fix same code so fitted gen merc part still the same brake lights work ok and on live data both parts of the switch are working.

Replaced esp/bas unit with s/h part same fault, all fuses good
pulled out most of what hair I have left!! can any body help please

hi i think it would help you to find a diagram and trace the bpp circit through to the control unit.
some of the early 220 did suffer with water ingress to the front electronics control/fuse box.
but if you start with a diagram at least you can trace the circit through

Thanks Kevin/Martin,

I was using Mercedes das system and have tested most of the wires back to the ecu but also noticed in the system diagram that there is a brake-light suppression relay fitted which is linked into it not sure of its location as A/Data gives no info?

If you are using Star surely you have WIS and Star should connect to it.

The relay is there for TC / ESP intervention, what is the fault code/discription?
