All - VVT cleaning fluids - recommendations? #

Hi all,
Have a Golf TDi coming in next week with a suspected sticky turbo so am considering a turbo-cleaner solution before going down the new-turbo route.

I am looking at the Innotec Turbo Cleaner and the SP Diagnostics Revive cleaners and wondered if any of you have tried each/either and whether you had any recommendations as to which worked better?

Hi Sean I have used Innotec Turbo Cleaner about a dozen times and always had great results. I would certainly recommend it. Can't comment on SP Revive never used it.

Hi Sean,
we have used both & both have worked so far.

We've been using Innotec for a while & had a couple where it has failed to work on a permanent basis.

I spoke to SP Diagnostics a month or so ago & found them very helpful & honest in the appraisal of their revive cleaner.

We bought 3 x bottles to try.

Used Revive twice so far with a 100% success rate, revive is a bit dearer - but a lot easier to apply.

SP diagnostics do say that if the carbon is deep seated in the pivots of the VV control ring spindles, their product would be unable to shift it.

But then again the Innotec product would also fail.

Pays your money & takes your choice - they both work with a good enough success rate to use with the proviso that it is a "worth a try, before buying a new turbo" recommendation.

Hi all,
I believe that the SP Diagnostics Revive is a retail version of R-MC 3E. Up to now this has only been available in large (about 25L?), very expensive, quantities. There are plenty of members that have tried this with a very high success rate and I for one am very happy that this can now be purchased in small quantities. I say this as although I haven't tried it I have read about it and even phoned the company to ask about selling me some in smaller quantities. I have tried Innotec and as far as I can tell the main difference is that Revive goes through the engine when it is running instead of all the hassle that you get with Innotec. Somebody else may comment further but I will definitely be putting it in the next problem turbo that I get in.

Thanks for the useful info guys, appreciated. I may try the SP Revive as it seems a lot easier to introduce than the Innotec stuff and access is often very limited.
We'll see how it goes!

I have now used to SP Revive and have found it to be really effective with good results and it's so easy to use. Just make sure you have a good extraction system or do it outside.
