This is another inherited job, I seem to get all of the stuff passed on to me that eveyone else mucks up and being near John `O` Groats the nearest pug dealer is 140 miles south in Inverness. Anyhow the job in question and as many details as possible: Owner is at the tyre shop having some new tyres fitted, when finished van will not start. Taken to a local garage who can`t get it going so dispatch van to local `Auto electrician` who can`t fix it either, He calls in diagnostic dan who arrives at the conclusion that the BSI is dead. Electrican takes BSI apart, does some soldering, declares it fixed, refits and lo and behold it wont start. Six weeks later owner asks if I would have a look at it. I removed the BSI and sent it away for repair and virginisation, It has come back with a clean bill of health. Before sending it away I scanned the entire system with a Lexia3 and PP2000, but got no comms with the BSI, but all other ecu`s showed no faults. After refitting the BSI shows a fault code, That being no comms with steering column module, and that the BSI is not programmed. Is the no comms with the column module caused by the BSI not being programmed? Now the bit I am not sure of: Is this the correct sequence of configuration: Configure 4 digit pin, vin no, keys, and then configure BSI? The keys do not have buttons so I assume there is no central locking and no alarm, It has ABS, Drivers side airbag, and basic radio cassette. I am aware of the BSI reset procedure, The 3 min shut down rule and the fact that the doors should be shut when confiuring, Also the van has a brand new fully charged battery. Any help would be much appreciated, Regards, Neil. PS Seasons greetings to one and all.

I had a look at it this morning, [I work at home good reason to get away from the inlaws]. I removed the covers from the column and it quickly became apparant that the transponder aerial is plugged into the column module so no comms means no key config. I have checked the continuity between the column and BSI and its OK. So it looks like the column module is stuffed and was more than likely the cause of the non start in the first place. I will keep you posted, Thank you for your input, Regards, Neil.
Hi Neil, Your best bet for any Comms 2000 used, recon or new units is to contact: www.peugeotpartsforsale.com. They are very good with peugeot comms & BSI's and are also very helpful indeed. I have used them many times & their prices & quality of products are excellent. I can't remember the owners name but he is switched on when it comes to Peugeot & will even help with programming info etc if you need it. You will need to get the build code of the Comms 2000 on your vehicle in question, as there is a massive range of variations & configurations to choose from. Hope this helps Neil, Gunner.

It was the red and white twisted pair, On close examination it had been pinched in the column adjuster. When i first checked for continuity it was ok, but wiggling it about continuity was lost. Keys now programmed, pressed the tit and of it goes, Customer a happy chap, got a thirty quid tip to boot. Thank you all for your input.
