MG ZR 1.4 2007 - Alarm / immobiliser fault #

Year of Manufacture *: 2007

I have a 2007 1.4 MG ZR 1.4. When the ignition is switched on the hazard lights are coming on, alarm is going off and the immobiliser light is flashing fast. If the ignition is left on for about 10 seconds the immobiliser light will go off and it will start and run for about 10 seconds and then cut out. The central locking isnt working or the drivers window. will i need to replace the scu and brain or is there any other way around it?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks

I know I'll get slated for this but you could try disconnecting the battery, turn ignition to on position then, (with door open) re-connecting the battery. I've had to do this before & never had any problems. Hope this helps, Alan.

hi barry
this pektron scu system is very prone to problems,one regular fault is water ingress into the scu which is positioned at inner bulkhead above the heater, and if a/c is fitted requires removal of evaporator to gain access.after removal if water is the problem this is usually evident by visual inspection of terminals and interior circuit board.
suggest you view message archives where there is a lot of info with regard to this system which by the way was also fitted to 04 model year on rov 45/ mg zs and mg tfs as well as rov25/mgzr

Have the pektron box out getting a reconditioned one and getting it coded in on monday. Thanks for the replies i'll let yous know how it goes. Thanks

got the alarmbox fitted and coded in, starting perfectly now and all electrics are now working fine!
