VW T30 2.5 TDi 2007 - Server clunk on taking up drive #

Posted by Paul Chard on September 28, 2011, 5:29 pm

Year of Manufacture *: 2007
( Optional ) Engine Code or CC: 2.5 TDI

Hi

Van came in with sever clunk on taking up drive. Also when going along in any gear and let off throttle then take up drive again seems like the all front is moving. Replaced front engine mount and rear of front wishbone bushes as they seemed to have excessive movement in them, but still the same.

Any help would be grateful - gearbox fault - dual mass?

Paul

I have had this problem previously and it has been play in the splines where the offside driveshaft joins the gearbox.

Robert, that makes it a gearbox repair & stubshaft if I remember rightly?? (my memories pretty poor though)

The DMF's also break up on these, I've seen one carve a hole in the bellhousing with a loose spring dangling from the side.

i remember reading something about these gearboxes now youve reminded me. have advised customer no to go on too long as it could cost more to repair the longer he leaves it. Thanks

Paul.
Generally the stubshaft and driveshaft splines go on the offside as Robert said.I have done about 6 vans so far. It is easy to check and easy to replace (less than 2 hours).Parts are expensive (in the region of 700 euros( Ireland) if memory serves).
