Vauxhall Astra H 1.7 CDTi 2005 - Passenger air bags deployed - Fixed #

Hi Guys

This is a little outside my normal remit but a friend has asked me to help him out

His son was given this Astra by his Grandfather having passed his test 10 months ago

At the weekend he managed to clip the kerb hard on a rounder-bout which broke an alloy and deployed the passenger side air bags in the roof and passenger seat airbag

He was insured fully comp, but they have asked me to fix if possible as he may not get insured again easily if he claims

Has anyone changed the roof airbag (curtain) and passenger seat air bag

What's involved (2 airbags I know)
New airbag ecu?
Coding in?
Impact sensors?
Seat belt pre-tensioners?
Roof lining? (althogh does not look damaged)

Any help would be welcome

Just a quick update

Managed to get the roof and seat airbags out with not to much trouble

Dealer said I would need to replace the impact sensor as well (location?)

2 airbags and sensor £408.00 plus vat

Sensor is under rear sill inner panelling.

peter, regarding airbag ecu crash data can be cleared.

so no need to buy an ecu..

Give me a shout if you need the data cleared or if you already have a ecu then i can configure and program it as well... i can pop down to yours if you like

Unless you got the facilities yourself of course, ECU is a once only program...

I'm fairly certain Vaux-Com can clear crash data, i know Tech 2 can as i've done one due to the indicators flashing everytime the ignition was turned on or doors unlocked.

Hi Lee,

I thought that this one was a bit early for that?

I know you can on the later ones, and as you say the hazards are always on so are the interior lights.

You could be correct but i thought it was the same for all Astra H's which i think from looking at the interior picture it is.

Finally Fixed today with a big thank you to Darren Cotton (AVC UK Ltd)

Took the car up to Darren this morning, and using VAUX-Com we tried to clear the codes, but no joy

Darren then gave Derek Edwards a call at Ilexa and he talked Darren through the correct procedure which included all doors and bonnet closed, lock and unlock doors and disconnect the battery for a few minutes. The codes could then be cleared and the light stayed out

(Darren may correct me if wrong)

Just to mention that when the car was started before codes cleared it was in crash mode with the hazards coming on straight away and interior light

Darren this morning on VAUX-Com

While I was there another familiar face turned up for a cuppa

Have to agree with Lee, Vaux-Com is a must have tool. I have done about half a dozen of these, clearing crash data, first time I have had to shut all the doors for it to actually clear the data.... but hey there you go.

But what a great function on the tool and with direct support from Derek all in the price its a steal, even thou the price has increased since I bought mine........ I also have MDI which just fits in perfect with the Vaux-Com
