Hi, was hoping for some advise / guidance from our more senior ... experienced members.
We have an immaculate '95 E220, 30k on clock. It is the W124 (022) with the earlier key (not flip) and the add on alarm system (not lights in mirror).
Non start - fires for 1 second then dies. Mechanically sound, compressions, plugs, battery etc.
Fuel pump works on ignition, relay & fuse ok, good pressure at rail. Strobe light at plugs and injector shows activity for the 1 second then nothing. Old heritage scanner goes in but no fault codes.
It would appear immobiliser ? what is the best course of action here, any checks i can carry out or is it as easy to remove add on alarm system ?
Car has been fine, parked up last week as normal, next time to it no start. Alarm sounded 2 weeks ago and the old dear used key in lock for first time in years - micro switch ?
Only other fault as such is central locking pump sounds for 12 seconds when locking, she thinks its been like that for a while.
I would certainly check the add-on alarm/immob system.Usually located behind drivers under dash trim or pass footwell. Also may be a good idea to check power output from efi relay .This is the overvolts protection relay with a fuse on top.(silver aluminium body)Fitted by n/side bonnet hinge, under plastic protection cover.Seen loads with dry solder joints on pcb.hth
thanks Kev, did see Jeff's post but was unsure of similarities with it being different system ? but i'll check out those suggestions.
Andy, efi relay ... with 15 fuse in top ? did look at that but to be honest wasn't sure what it was
The car is so clean, garaged all the time that's certainly a posibility. Most helpful, not sure when i'll get back to it as staff off at the moment. Will keep you updated.
