Hi

Car has been standing about 18 months.Remote key will open door and green light will illuminate. When key is placed at position two both red and green lights will begin to flash approx five seconds later. There is no spark or feed to fuel pump. There is a second alarm/immobiliser with a three pin key socket fitted in the glove box.If the key is inserted without the ignition on the red light at the rear view mirror will flash twice every five seconds until the ignition is switched on and then both flash as before.I have tried all combinations of locking,re key programming and ignition position on or off. There is no name on the second immobiliser unit but it is stamped 1997 so I was wondering if it was factory fitted to meet the Thatcham standards that I have read recently on this site (?).The car will not communicate with either the Solus or Launch.Any help would be appreciated as it is too good to scrap.

Thanks

Jeff

I wouldn't dare suggest connecting the battery with the ignition on as I'd be eaten alive on here!

Flashing red and green lights could be an indication that the batteries in remote key need replacing.(enough power to open the car but not enough to deactivate immob).Add on alarm immobiliser systems on these are usually hidden away under false floor in passenger footwell.hth

Yep andy's right. New batteries in the fob should sort yer problem out. I have seen these alarms cause problems recently, made by scorpion ( no longer around )and fitted by dealer at PDI. If your battery change does not sort things out, just remove the scorpion, including any immobiliser cuts.

Jeff
Cut and join the red/yellow trace wire with the purple/black trace wire at the scorpion box under n/s false floor.
Kev.

Thanks for your replies everybody. We have tried new batteries and the additional immobiliser unit is located under the steering wheel and not in the n/s false floor. As there is no name on the second immobiliser unit can I assume it is a scorpion and a mercedes original ? We might try Alan's suggestion has anyone got any reason why we should n't ?

Hi Jeff,

I have done something similar with vehicles which have immo problems. I disconnect the battery earth and get an assistant to turn the ignition to the crank position and then reconnect the earth. This has sometimes been successful. I picked that tip up somewhere but cannot remember where. Whether this is good practice I cannot say, which is why Alan was guarded in this suggestion. Still waiting for one of our more learned members to say something to the contrary.

Thanks for the feedback pete We will give it a go and see what happens I will let you know

unfortunately the 'key to start and connect the battery' trick did not work this time.So the car is on E bay. Thanks to everyone for their input.
