Nissan Micra 1.0 K12 2003 - Battery drain over 3/4 days #

Year of Manufacture *: 2003
( Optional ) Engine Code or CC: K12 1000cc

Any one come accross Micra draining battery @3-4 days. New battery fitted has been checked by two auto electricians. Alternator charging ok.Current draw showing on meter with car locked and ecu at sleep 60 milli amps. Have had vehicle sitting parked for 3 days started after day 2 but not enough to turn over engine by end of day 3. This was with new battery fully charged

I have had a similar problem, don't know if it will be the same result though.

On my vehicle it was the tailgate opening and lock switches above the rear number plate full of water. Suggest you remove tailgate inner panel and leave off (so you can open boot from inside afterwards), disconnect both switches and then see if it is ok. When I tested mine with ohm meter I could see it was not going from zero to infinity cleanly, when connected current was flowing very slightly but occasionally flowing just as nuch as when the switch was being operated.

Graham tanks for input have removed switches tested before disconnection all seemed ok ,have left disconnected ,after 4 days again battery discharged unable to start car again ,re checked current draw again drops to 60 milli amps when car is locked and to 10 milli amps after 30 mins still no sign of heavy load pull

Hi derek this is a known fault,the ecm is waking up to test if anything is left on to often needs dealer re-flash to reduce self test times hth keith

Hi Derek, i had a similar experience with an early K12 micra, Turned out to be water ingress into the switch on the tailgate handle (common fault so im told by nissan) This fault caused the tailgate actuator to operate on its own accord over night and drain the battery, A new tailgate switch fitted into the handle with plenty of silicon and car has been fine since.

Thanks for input from all whilst waiting for other options ,ecu reflash was to be next port off call ,we disconnected Alternator for the usuall 4 days ,car was fine have since fitted new alternator car has been out for 2 weeks now all seems good .
