have been called to look at a z3 with the customer complaining of the alarm triggering when locking the car within a couple of minutes. when i first got to the vehicle i tested the battery condition and for a drain thinking it might be either current draw flattening battery or a faulty battery as the vehicle has been in garage all winter. i did notice that the boot light would not switch off when the catch was trigged shut, so i disconnected the boot catch switch and tested the alarm doors locked and i waited 15 or so Min's no fault. the customer recontacted me this week and asked if i would take another look at it as the alarm has gone off again. been to look at it this morning and the battery tested fine and she said it has not gone off since Monday when she phoned me (typical) i have run a diagnostic check on the alarm the only fault code was for the led short to ground or open circuit when i tested the alarm the led worked OK cleared faults and retested no problem i checked live data and doors, boot, glove box were reading closed could not see a live data for bonnet so for test have unplugged the bonnet switch. the only other thing that is different is that they have fitted a hard top to it but she says the alarm triggered even with the hard top on . Now for my question can anyone shine some light on to what could be the problem or any further tests i could do and secondly does anyone know on witch BMW wds wiring Cd they cover the z3? thanks
