Nissan Micra 1.0 2000 - MAF fault #

( Optional ) Engine Code or CC: 1.0

Good morning all

Have a Micra with lack of power and rough running, diagnosed MAF, my question is, has anyone used a replacement from ECP? another factor has quoted £557.87 retail, ECP price for sensor alone is £152.either price is probably more than the car is worth.

Any comments would be appreciated (apart from comments on the cars worth)

i had same fault last month car had not been serviced for 5 years, when i changed air filter all the muck went into maf and caused same problem, i removed wire gauze above maf and cleaned that out then removed maf and used some maf/throttle body cleaner from bg products and it worked a treat hope this helps

Is this the airflow meter and throttle housing and tps switch all combined in one unit ?

If it is it can be repaired , where the tin cover is siliconed sealed on the side, cut round it with a blade ( use appropriate saftey gear , googles , saftey gloves ..health and safety and all that )

When you have removed the cover there are if i remember correctly 3 soldered joints, they are the supply and earth to the air mass, you will see where the solder has burned away from the connector leg, just re solder.

A have done a few of these but it was a good few years ago so its from memory.

Thanks for all your help, customer found a company to repair it, quoted £190.00. Hope it works, at least its not my fault if it doesn`t.

Is the MAF like the one in the link, or held in by two screws?. Done a couple around 2000 and those were the newer two screw type.

For those you just get Bosch part number 0986280232 which is an Almera MAF and swap the sensor as its the same. To buy the Micra version is ridiculous money. Paid about £60 for the Bosch one at the time.

£27.00 + vat for a Bosch Exchange sensor sounds like a better option to me.

£27 gawd!! Even better if it's that sort of MAF that's fitted and not the one with the common solder prob. Could of sworn the one I got was around the 50ish mark +vat. But it was a while back.

Will have to do some ringing round next time I need one.

That number I gave was actually an Almera one not Primera like I posted but you get the jist.
