second time i have looked at this its a touring 330d. when the vehicle is unlocked with the remote first thing the interior light comes on but the locks fail to open if you open the drivers door with the key and press the cdl button the doors lock, press again and they refuse to unlock, they start to work by continually pressing cdl button trouble is once working wont fail. i wasn't able to retrieve any faults with the verus (another system not available)so i stopped at that point. looked at it again today again doors failed to unlock with remote and key, tapped the underneath of glove box as needed door open to gain access to body module, the locks did open after a gentle slap.set the door latches to closed and retried the locking locked but didn't unlock tested the wires from the unit to one of the lock motors found trigger to lock yet nothing on the unlock though i could hear the relay click.removed unit opened hoping to find dry joint non visible prior to removal the locking had started to work perfectly.could not get it to fail tested the switches from the boot and glass no faults and the door pin switches again no fault checked supply and ground no fault. Brought the launch with me this time and there were a whole list of fault codes probably when i disconnected the unit. when i put it all back together again worked fine, customer reports once car is warm or locking starts to work it will work the rest of the day i feel the body module is faulty to be more precise i think the unlock relay is in trouble however when scoping the lock and unlock worked fine never failed. have i missed anything and has anyone else had this annoying intermittent problem tanks
Very common. The relays in the GM5 control module fail. As you've experienced, some times they'll work fault free where as other times they'll play up.
The relays can be replaced if you are competant at soldering or there are people who will replace them for you. eBay is your friend in this instance. You can buy the relays from eBay or there are people on there that offer replacement service.
thanks for your post matt it was begining to anoy me as i can be sure of my diagnoses if the dam thing will stay broken long enough for me to diagnose problem i have contacted my custome and will arange time to remove unit for repair will post when all done thanks again
