Year of Manufacture *: 2006
Hello
We have a difficult situation with this particular passat,on several occaisions the battery has gone flat after three to four days of the vehicle standing and somtimes as little as two days. This started back in april of last year, we tested the battery and alternator and found all to be satisfactory, we also checked for any excessive current drain and no excessive draw was evident.
The battery was charged and all ok until september and same problem reappeared. The customer instructed us to fit a new battery which we did. All ok untill two weeks ago, same fault.
Carried out usuall tests, charged and tested battery, current draw/drain was about 200MV,the alternator test showed evidence of excessive ripple and diode faults. The alternator was replaced as it is possible to have a battery drain due to leaking diodes, rare i know!. Phone call from cutomer to-day same problem.Would be grateful to know if there is a common issue on this model.
What was the parasitic drain when you tested it in April? You say that two weeks ago you had a drain of “200MV”. I take it that’s 200MA, which is too high, assuming you have measured that with the CAN fully asleep.
